Apocalyptic Love! ;)

A very good evening to my fellow readers once again. Since I have not blogged in a while and I have just posted my recent post about WHAT ABOUT GENRE'S?, I have decided to post up another post for you guys tonight. I have just finished watching the game between Liverpool and Man United and oh boy that was really a tense match right there. As a proud Liverpool supporter over these years since when I was a kid, I am sad to say that this season we have started off really bad. We have only managed to pick up just 2 points without a single victory yet with only 2 draws and 3 loses! We really do need to start winning games in the Premier League in order to start winning titles again yet alone qualifying for the prestigious UEFA Champions League. Moving on, I'm not here to talk about football or how bad Liverpool is playing, but I'm here to talk about a review that I have done on one of my favorite albums which in fact have been only released in June this year. This album is by my favorite guitarist of all time who is formally the lead guitarist for Guns N Roses and Velvet Revolver and he is no other than SLASH!.

My previous post would tell you that I have mention quite a bit about him. The sole reason is that Slash is my idol and he has inspired me musically such as to pick up a guitar and start playing. It may seem a little crazy to think that just one guy could inspire me to pick up a guitar and start playing?. Well there is more to that. I admire him for his musical talents as well as his sweet guitar skills when he shreds down those riffs creating classics that he is so fond of doing since his days with Guns N Roses.

Back in 2010, Slash released his first self titled album which features a wide variety of talented musicians and singers that he has collaborated with in producing his self titled album. He has worked with artists such as Alice Cooper, Ian Astbury, Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie, Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother, Adam Levine, Iggy Pop, Myles Kenney and many more. His idea of producing his self titled album is to do something different musically whereby he is not producing a record with a permanent band like he once did with Guns N Roses and Velvet Revolver but instead he writes his own songs which features other talented musicians and singers. One of the songs that I really like in particular which actually touched my heart is the song Gotten featuring Adam Levine of Maroon 5. This song is basically about the homeless youths in Los Angeles, California and how they are struggling on the streets just to survive. Thousands have already lost their lives living on the streets without proper food nor shelter during the harsh weathers in the winter. Adding to that, they do not have proper medical attention as they do not have money to seek medical aid when they are sick. This is very saddening and we should all contribute something, clothes, money, food to ensure the safety of these people. Homeless youths are not only to be found in Los Angeles but throughout the world. We as humanity should all lend a helping hand to help these people. Here's a video of the song specially produced by Slash to aware the public to lend a helping hand. This video has really touched my heart and I hope you guys enjoy it and maybe make a difference to help :).

Upon releasing his debut self titled album, " Slash", Slash wanted to do something different and fresh and he needed to keep up with his self titled debut album which received great reviews and feedbacks. Fresh off his induction into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in early April with his former band Guns N Roses, he returns with his second solo album titled " Apocalyptic Love". This album is different than his first debut self titled album as this time he would not be working with an astray of musicians and artist but a proper band instead. Slash has teamed up with Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge on vocals, Brent Fitz from Alice Cooper on drums and Todd Kerns from Age of Electric on bass whom which Slash has worked with in producing his previous record. Although working with a band this time in producing his latest album, Slash decided to self titled the album also giving credits to Myles Kennedy, Brent Fitz and Todd Kerns labeling them the Conspirators.

Upon being released, this album has sold millions of copies around the world and once again received many positive reviews and feedbacks. I even found it hard to get my hands on a copy of this album. I have been to three music stores hoping to purchase this album but I have always been let down with the word in each store saying " I'm sorry, the album has sold out". I was getting more and more disappointed as I somehow couldn't manage to get my hands on his latest album. On one fine day as I was window shopping as you like, I saw a music store from a distance and it straight away came to my mind that I needed to check out that music store whether they would still have this album. After 3 attempts of being let down due to the album being sold out, that music store had stock! I immediately picked that album up and headed straight to the counter to pay. I managed to get my hands on the second last album they had in the store!

My emotions were running high that day as I wanted to listen to his latest album so badly. I felt like a child who has been craving for chocolates finally get to eat his chocolates! When I headed straight home, I immediately put his album on my stereo and blast it out loud in my room. I can proudly say that despite waiting so long to get my hands on his album, I was not disappointed AT ALL!. All his songs in his album were no doubt better than his previous album and most of it were up tempo, trash and had nasty riffs to it. That is what Slash is famous for over these years! To me, it was the best album that I have purchased since Guns N Roses last released their album, Classic Hits!. I was reading the review of what fans like myself had to say about the album and I came up with this. " What makes this disc so appealing is the sheer diversity of it. Proving his ( Slash) true jack-of-all-trades abilities, the songs range from straight-up rockers to bluesy infused tunes to even the softer side of Slash with classical and cinematic elements-all in all, a well-rounded offering proving that he's no one tricky pony".  ( Mary Quellette, 2012). That right there says it all!

Well that's all for this post. I'm gonna leave you guys with photos of his latest album as well as a video on how this record was made! Till the next post, good night :).
