A tribute to the King Of Pop! ;)

A very good evening I would like to wish my fellow readers. First of all, let me take time off to wish my classmates and everyone who will be having their mid term examinations next week all the best. By this time round, all of us have pretty much adjusted ourselves to the transition stage as you like that we have made from high-school to pre-university life to pursue our career in mass communication. Some of us have just came fresh from high school whereas some of us came from  different colleges or universities like myself. I was recently studying in Taylors college Subang Jaya studying South Australian Matriculation or SAM. The reason why I quit half way down my term is because I honestly couldn’t cope with it. I was taking subjects like law and stuff like that which wasn’t my cup of tea. Getting back on track, I’m sure many of you guys know who the king of pop is. Unfortunately, he passed away 3 years ago to a possible drug overdose.

Well today’s post is not entirely about the king of pop, Michael Jackson but what he has done which made the world have a “craze” if you like when he was still alive. Not only did people loved most of his songs, but he invented the Moon Walk which made people go “GAGA” or crazy about it.

This “ craze” or people going “GAGA” when he danced moonwalk on stage which everyone wanted to imitate and be like him can be described in simple psychological terms whereby this theory simple means the Social Cognitive Theory. Let me give you guys a brief definition about this theory. Social Cognitive Theory states that “we learn behaviours through observation, modelling and motivation such as positive reinforcement”. When the whole world saw him danced the moonwalk on stage, it became an instant hit and it immediately went viral as no one has ever seen that dance or could have ever imagine doing that dance ever!. The moves to moonwalk may look simple but oh boy it is definitely one hard dance to master. Ask any dancer and they would probably tell you the same thing that maybe, just maybe it takes years and years to perfect it like the king of pop does. Yet, somehow due to the craze by the public on his unique dance, they would somehow find ways to create a video or some sort imitating his dance moves.

Let me give you guys another example in relation to this theory. Not too long ago, the Oppa Gangnam Style took the music world by storm. The dance moves created by this artist from Korea named PSY, was just unusual. His horse styled dance moves with only a few moves to the dance has changed the dance revolution. People no longer crave the hip hop dance like they used to anymore but instead this horse styled dance if you like. This video, Oppa Gangnam style upon released immediately got thousands leading to millions of viewers on Youtube alone which later went viral all over the world. Even our Prime Minister was tweeting about it.

The video Oppa Gangnam style has inspired people with it’s unique dance moves that it motivated people to create different versions of it. I am pretty sure if I would have to Youtube the video, you would not only find the original version of this video but also other similar videos done by the public. For example, the Oppa Gangnam Style has inspired some of our Malaysians, that we have actually made a different version or a parody of it calling it Oppa KL Style.

Well, that is all for this post. I hope you have a good time reading my all my post till the lastest one right here as I certainly do enjoy keeping you guys updated! So stay tune for more posts coming up real soon! J
